Victoria Rodney

University of Waterloo
Student Leader
Victoria Rodney is a third year Health Studies and Economics student at the University of Waterloo while working to enact meaningful change on her campus. During her time there, she has been a strong advocate for students at the intersection of Black, queer and femme identities having co-written a syllabus surrounding the contributions of historical black queer figures. In her second year, she created the university’s first ever service, RAISE (Racial Advocacy for Inclusion, Solidarity and Equity), to address racism and xenophobia on campus. Since then, she has led as president for her campus’ Black student association where she diligently works to address homophobia within the Black community. Additionally, Victoria also engages in advocacy work related to the mental health of students of colour on campus and misogynoir in black/queer communities.
